Chirag C. Patel, MD Downtown Columbus, East Columbus, Delaware and Lancaster officesDr. Patel received his undergraduate degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada and his medical degree from the Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, Illinois. After completing an internship at Evanston Northwestern Healthcare/Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, he completed his ophthalmology residency at the Kresge Eye Institute/Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, Michigan. After residency, Dr. Patel completed a fellowship in vitreoretinal diseases and surgery at the Rocky Mountain Lions Eye Institute/University of Colorado in Denver, Colorado.
Dr. Patel has authored numerous peer reviewed journal articles and textbook chapters. He has presented at national meetings and regularly lectures on topics related to vitreoretinal diseases and surgery. Dr. Patel is certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, a member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists, the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society. |

Matthew J. Byun, MD Downtown Columbus and East ColumbusDr. Byun received his undergraduate degree with Magna Cum Laude from The Ohio State University. He subsequently received his medical degree from Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine. After a surgical internship at Mount Carmel Health System, he completed his ophthalmology residency at University of Cincinnati where he served as a chief resident. He then completed his medical and surgical vitreoretinal fellowship at a combined program of University of Illinois at Chicago and University Retina and Macula Associates.
Dr. Byun has a special interest in the medical and surgical diseases of the retina, vitreous, and macula including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal vascular occlusion, epiretinal membrane, macular hole, and retinal detachment. Dr. Byun is dedicated to providing the most up-to-date and highest quality medical and surgical care to patients. He has been an investigator in many clinical trials for age related macular degeneration and diabetic retinopathy. He has presented at several institutions and meetings and published multiple peer reviewed articles. |
